Boundaries - Infrared Winter Landscapes

These photos were taken beyond the ski area boundary.  The journey requires an element of risk, and depending on the conditions, a noticeable effort to reach. Paradoxically, at times it seemed safer and more responsible to flirt with unknown perils and payoff to trudge the “out of bounds” than ski within the marked perimeters with identified hazards.


Shooting infrared is like eating a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get and fascinating aspect of each journey was how a few steps in any direction introduced a new scene. What originally looked like a smooth bump began to cast sharp shadows with a rippled sandpaper windblown grade, and what appeared as a small snow drift, turned into the cliff boundary.
